Dear Colleagues,
We are going to come together again at 6th Psychological Trauma Symposium (PTS) in Istanbul between 11 and 13 December 2009.
We are living in a world of stressors in our day to day life. Being very valuable and necessary for our becoming a human, on the one part, this variety of stimulants at the same time, unfortunately, houses, an extraordinary variety of factors which cause psychological trauma. Therefore, we have set main theme of 6th Psychological Trauma Symposium as 'Trauma in Daily Life".
At this symposium, we will discuss thoroughly such factors in a wide spectrum from street violence and political violence to traumatic effects of global climate changes which are now a matter of survival for our planet and which we would feel more intensively in just one generation and to other man made 'natural disasters', as well as to sex labour, 'mobbing', poverty and deprivation, and on probable remedial actions and measures which might be taken against them.
We will discuss in detail socio-political dimensions of traumas in daily life and their effects and psychological therapeutic methods in a scientific and multidisciplinary approach and we will share our knowledge and experiences. So, we believe that your participation will enrich this environment further.
As can be seen from concrete outputs of the previous symposia, 6th Psychological Trauma Symposium will again provide an environment at which experts from different disciplines and from different areas of the world, of our region in particular, would get the chance to share and discuss their ideas, opinions, studies and experiences.
In an age where violence is welded into daily life in every level and where our lives are rendered darker with fear of probable invention of new ways of violence, let's come together in Istanbul, the bridge of centuries, between 11 and 13 December 2009. We are hoping that we will be able to search for ways of coping with 'Traumas in Daily Life", which renders us as both victim and subject, as human being, and to further strengthen our joint journey in this direction.
